BY A STAFF REPORTER: People of all communities should celebrate festivals without showing any disrespect to each other, advised Kolkata police commissioner Manoj Verma. Speaking to ANM News on eve of the festive season of Holi and Ramzan, Verma maintained that adequate police arrangements have been made for any eventualities. ``I am confident that people will celebrate festivals and show respect to each other and will pass off peacefully,'' he said.

The festival of Holi coincided with the Friday prayers on Ramzan. Kolkata police has identified several key sensitive areas across the city where a large number of personnel accompanied by senior officers will supervise and keep watch on the scenario. Government offices are closed on Friday and most are making a beeline for jungles, hills or the sea coast to have fun and enjoy three days of break. ANM News contacted tour operators and hotels in tourist places of Mandarmani, Darjeeling and Sundarbans and found that most of the hotels are full to capacity.
