"The Congress party will get a comfortable majority. I will win comfortably in Varuna," he said. Siddaramaiah feels that the fall of the BJP government in Karnataka is a matter of time. Also, former BJP Chief Minister of Karnataka and Congress leader Jagadish Shettar has expressed hope for the victory of Congress in Karnataka. He said, "Congress will get a clear majority and form the government. According to exit polls, Congress is the single largest party. There is no question of an alliance with any other party, especially the JD(S)". Also Congress state president DK Shivakumar claimed that Congress will get at least 146 seats in Karnataka. He said, "I don't believe these exit poll numbers. I stand by my numbers that we will cross 146 seats.
