BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that the NATO chief had been informed to convene a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to discuss the security of the Black Sea, particularly the operation of a corridor for Ukraine's grain exports.

Russia pulled out of the U.N.-backed Grain Corridor agreement this week, saying Western countries had ignored Moscow's demands to ensure food and fertilizer exports. Russia has said ships heading to Ukraine's Black Sea port could be considered military targets.

"With our own cooperation, we have reached a new, more advanced stage of the NATO-Ukraine Council, and this process can have an impact," Zelensky said. I proposed to Jens that the council be convened without delay to discuss the relevant crisis. The meeting will be held in the coming days. We can overcome the security crisis in the Black Sea. '
