BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy responded this week to a U.S. senator's call to declare a 2024 election, saying a wartime vote could take place if partners share costs, lawmakers approve and everyone participates in the election.

Elections cannot currently be held in Ukraine under martial law, which should be extended every 90 days and then after the general date for parliamentary elections on November 15 and before presidential elections, which will usually be held in March 2024.
