World Environment Day: Know the history of its beginning

By a Staff Reporter: Every year on June 5, Environment Day is celebrated across the world. The increasing pollution in the environment is causing damage to the environment constantly. On this day there is a special discussion to protect the environment around the world. World Environment Day has been celebrated since 1973 on June 5. The previous year in 1972, in the discussions of the 'Stockholm Conference on Human Environment', June 5 was chosen as the World Environment Day. An international platform called the 'United Nations Environment Program' was created to free the environment from pollution with the slogan 'Only One Earth'. 143 countries of the world participated in this initiative. In 1973, World Environment Day discussed environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development and wildlife crime.
