New Delhi: As geopolitical tensions surge across West Asia following the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, nuclear policy expert Dr. Rajiv Nayan, Head of the Centre for Nuclear Issues and Arms Control at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), has issued a stern warning against American interventionist strategies, claiming they are worsening global instability.
Speaking in the context of the latest regional crisis, Dr. Nayan remarked, “American actions destabilise the world, not only the region. Especially their deep state is active all over and has no understanding of the local dynamics.” He stressed that the repeated patterns of unilateral military and strategic interventions—often driven by internal US power structures—undermine regional balances and long-term peace efforts.
Dr. Nayan also addressed concerns over Iran’s nuclear infrastructure in the wake of reported Israeli strikes and possible Western targeting of sensitive sites. He downplayed long-term damage, saying, “Iran has got the expertise, Iran has got the technical know-how... within 2 to 3 years it will again rebuild or reconstruct all the critical infrastructure which had been damaged.”
His remarks come amid growing fears of a broader conflict, with the United States increasing its strategic posture in the region. Several analysts have raised alarms over the potential for a prolonged standoff with spillover effects across South Asia, the Gulf, and beyond.
