New Delhi, May 1 — In the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, United States Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth held a telephonic conversation with Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, conveying deep condolences over the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives. The attack, widely condemned as a cowardly act of terror, has once again raised global concern over the persistence of terrorism in the region.
During the conversation, Secretary Hegseth expressed strong solidarity with India, stating that the United States stands firmly by its democratic partner in the face of such brutal acts. He emphasized that the US supports India's right to defend itself against terrorism and reiterated the unwavering commitment of the US government to partner with India in its counterterrorism efforts.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, in response, acknowledged the gesture and underlined that Pakistan continues to play a key role in harboring and sponsoring terrorism. He informed Secretary Hegseth that Pakistan has a long-standing history of supporting, training, and financing terrorist groups that operate across borders.
The Defence Minister stressed the urgent need for the international community to take a firm and unified stand against terrorism. “It is imperative that all nations unequivocally condemn and isolate those who sponsor such heinous acts,” he stated.
