BY A STAFF REPORTER: A bus driver was killed and 76 others injured when two buses collided head-on on a highway in southeastern Czechistan.

The accident occurred on the D2 motorway near Brano, Czech's second-largest city, regional rescue forces said.

Officials said a bus on its way from Budapest to Prague hit the back of another bus. Some of the 14 seriously injured were airlifted to nearby hospitals.

Police said the motorway connecting Slovakia's capital Bratislava with the Czech Republic had to be closed in both directions for several hours. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
