Tsunami Alert: 7.5 magnitude Earthquake hits Japan
Hokuriku Electric Power company, which supplies power by a regulated monopoly to Toyama, Ishikawa, and some other prefectures of Japan, said it is checking for any irregularities at its nuclear power plants, NHK reported.
By Rupanjal Chauhan: A 7.5 magnitude earthquake shakes north central Japan on Monday morning of 1st January. As a result, The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a Tsunami alert along the western coastal regions of Ishikawa, Niigata, and Toyama prefectures. NHK TV reported.
According to the weather agency, a Tsunami of up to 5 meters (16.5 feet) high is anticipated to hit Noto in Ishikawa Prefecture. The residents are urged to flee to high land or the top of a nearby building as early as possible. Moreover, waves over one meter have hit Wajima City’s coast in Ishikawa. Tsunami waves are already hitting Suzu City in Ishikawa Prefecture.
