LONDON, Sep 19 — Former United States President Donald Trump has said that London Mayor Sadiq Khan was deliberately not invited to a Royal banquet held during his state visit to the United Kingdom, citing his longstanding criticism of the mayor’s leadership.
In remarks responding to a question on the matter, Trump stated, “Well, I didn’t want him there. I asked that he not be there. The Mayor of London, Khan, is among the worst in the world… he’s the equivalent of the Mayor of Chicago. Mayor Khan has done a terrible job. On immigration, he’s a disaster. I’ve not liked him for a long time.”
Trump, whose mother was born in Scotland, added that his concerns were linked to London’s condition under Khan’s tenure. “I have a certain pride in London and the UK. And when I see Mayor Khan doing a bad job — the stabbings, the dirt, the filth — it’s not the same. No, I didn’t want him there,” he said.
