Washington DC: Former US President Donald Trump on Monday claimed that Hamas has suffered significant setbacks since the October 7 attacks, citing high casualties and repeated leadership losses. Speaking about the conflict, Trump said the group had “paid a big price” but cautioned that the situation remains uncertain.
“We have killed about 25,000 Hamas. So, certainly, they paid a big price for October 7,” Trump said, adding that the militant group’s leadership had been eliminated “three different times.” He noted that despite the losses, Hamas continues to regroup, calling it “a whole new group” that “keep coming.”
Trump stressed that he hoped for stability and the possibility of peace in the region. “We hope that they’re going to have a nice calm life. Maybe it won’t happen. But if it does, it’ll be one of the greatest things ever to happen. We’ll have actual peace in the Middle East,” he said.
