BY A STAFF REPORTER: Three elderly people have died in a fire at a hospital in the Italian city of Tivoli, near Rome. A fourth body was found in the morgue of the San Giovanni Evangelista hospital, but it is believed that he died before the fire broke out shortly before 11 p.m. local time.

The fire brigade helped evacuate around 200 people, including a pregnant woman and several children, from the hospital using turntable ladders. Those rescued were taken to hospitals in other parts of Rome for treatment. Two men and two women were aged between 76 and 86.
