Ina Stašević, Hrvatska/Europa: The number of elderly people is increasing globally. An International scientific conference on the topic of elderly care in modern society was held in Brčko District/Bosnia and Herzegovina/Europe. The Mayor of Brčko District, Siniša Milić, officially opened the conference and welcomed the 250 scientific participants.

Among the prominent scientists who participated in the Conference was university professor Dr. Phil. Wolfgan Rohrbach from Vienna, President of Europa Nostra Austria, who pointed out that Europe in the 21st century is facing rapid demographic changes in which the proportion of the elderly people is increasing.

By 2050, as much as one third of the population will be elderly. In this regard, it is important to find new models of care for the elderly because such a large number of elderly people will not be able to be institutionally cared for.

A member of the Scientific committee of the conference was also university professor and director of the International University of Manipur in Imphal/India, Prof. Dr. Sc. Harikumar Pallathadka, with whom the European University in Brčko concluded an agreement on mutual cooperation in 2020, within the framework of which Professor Harikumar Pallathadka promotes joint academic projects.
