BY A STAFF REPORTER: The attackers attacked a hospital in northern Mexico after they tried to kill a patient, clashing with other gunmen inside.

Three gunmen tried to attack a hospital in Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa state, but two of them were killed in a shootout with armed men in the hospital.

State Police Chief Gerardo Merida said a doctor was killed in the shooting. A third attacker was wounded.
