Ljubljana, Slovenia: Amid India’s robust diplomatic outreach, Marjan Šetinc, President of the Slovenian Association for International Relations (SDMO), voiced strong support for India’s anti-terror stance while expressing concern over rising tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly regarding Kashmir.
Speaking after a high-level interaction with the all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, Šetinc described the meeting as significant. “This was a very important meeting for us. The delegation from India is very powerful, transmitting the message which is getting very well down in Slovenia,” he said.
Reaffirming Slovenia’s opposition to terrorism, Šetinc added, “Nobody is supportive of terrorism.” However, he also highlighted Slovenia’s concern over the potential for further escalation in South Asia. “We very much worry that this situation doesn't escalate further,” he noted, referring to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Šetinc emphasized that Slovenia, currently a member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), would support the peaceful resolution of issues raised by India at international platforms. “That’s our Government will be transmitting the message across the EU,” he said, hinting at coordinated diplomatic efforts within the European bloc and at the UN.
