Six inmates killed in Ecuador prison unrest

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Six inmates were killed friday in a raid at Ecuador's Guayaquil prison, authorities said. SNAI's National Prison Authority said in a statement that the incident took place in a room in Guayas-1 prison, killing six people.

The public prosecutor's office said police and the military, as well as their agents, were "implementing security protocols."

It is learnt that specialised military personnel will conduct the first operation and surveillance at Pavilion 7 in the next few hours to bring the situation under control.
