seven dead after tamaulipas roof collapse

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Seven dead of the nearly 30 parishioners trapped under rubble after the roof of a church collapsed during a prayer service in northern Mexico on Sunday, authorities said.

Tamaulipas state police said there were about 100 people in the church at the time of the collapse and about 30 people inside the church. Several children are believed to be among those trapped and rescue operations are underway. People are reportedly bringing shovels and peacocks to try to clear the debris. Emergency services arrived at the scene. The death toll is expected to rise further.
