Russian Envoy Praises India-Russia Defence Partnership, Atmanirbhar Bharat

New Delhi: Roman Babushkin, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Russian Embassy in India, lauded the enduring India-Russia defence partnership, highlighting its role in advancing India's self-reliance in defence capabilities. Speaking in Delhi, Babushkin emphasized Russia's commitment to supporting India's Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

“We proceed from the very strong understanding that it will be another landmark event in the advancement of the Indian defence capabilities,” Babushkin stated, referring to India’s strides in indigenous defence manufacturing and self-reliance.

He underscored the success of the Make in India program, noting its focus on fostering local production and development in collaboration with friendly nations. “The very successful efforts being made by the government of India through the commitment to Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives bring particular results,” Babushkin said.

Highlighting Russia’s role, he described the country as India's "oldest and most reliable defence partner." He pointed out the long-standing cooperation between the two nations, particularly in sharing advanced technologies and fostering joint production and development in defence.

Babushkin also spoke of the strong "bio-cellular relations" underpinning the India-Russia partnership, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation and mutual growth in the defence sector.
