New Delhi, March 4: Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, expressed gratitude to Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) for hosting an exhibition dedicated to renowned Russian painter and writer Nicholas Roerich.
In response to a query on Roerich’s legacy, Alipov stated, "I am grateful to Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the National Gallery of Modern Arts for organizing this exhibition. Last year, we marked the 150th anniversary of one of the greatest artists of Russia, a true friend and a true lover of India, who settled in India, who served as a bridge between the cultures of Russia and India, Nicholas Roerich. His whole family was very remarkable, one of his sons settled in India..."
Nicholas Roerich, known for his mystical Himalayan landscapes and deep spiritual connection with India, played a significant role in strengthening Indo-Russian cultural ties. Having settled in the Kullu Valley, he became an advocate for heritage preservation and artistic exchange.
