Moscow, December 10, 2024: Russia and India continue to bolster their "particularly privileged strategic partnership," with a strong emphasis on defence and security cooperation, according to Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov. Speaking at a press event in Moscow, Belousov underscored the historic and time-honored friendship between the two nations, which is rooted in mutual respect and shared strategic interests.

“The trusting relations of the leaders of the two States play a key role in strengthening bilateral ties,” Belousov noted, referencing the pivotal meetings between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024. The leaders met in July in Moscow and again in October during the BRICS Summit in Kazan, both occasions marking significant progress in bilateral engagements.

Belousov highlighted that these meetings had contributed to deepening the partnership, particularly in the defence sphere. “We are committed to implementing all the agreements reached at the highest level,” he said, reflecting on Russia’s pledge to ensure the smooth execution of joint projects and collaborations in defence technology and security.

This year witnessed several landmark developments in the Russia-India defence partnership, including ongoing cooperation in areas such as joint military exercises, technology transfer, and arms procurement. The two nations also reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing security frameworks to address evolving global challenges.

The Russian Defence Minister expressed confidence that the continued dialogue between the two nations would only serve to strengthen their ties further. “Our meeting will help to solidify Russian-Indian relations in the field of defence and security,” Belousov concluded.

The Russia-India relationship remains a cornerstone of regional and global stability, and both nations appear steadfast in their resolve to enhance this enduring partnership.
