New Delhi: Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh is set to embark on an official visit to the Russian Federation from December 8 to December 10. The Ministry of Defence announced that Singh will co-chair the 21st meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) with his Russian counterpart, Defence Minister Andrey Belousov, in Moscow on December 10.
The IRIGC-M&MTC is a pivotal forum for discussing and enhancing defence and technical collaboration between the two nations. The upcoming meeting is expected to address key issues related to military cooperation, including joint defence projects, technology transfer, and strategic initiatives that bolster bilateral defence ties.
India and Russia have a longstanding partnership in the defence sector, underscored by decades of collaboration on military hardware and joint ventures. This visit reaffirms the commitment of both nations to further strengthen this relationship amidst evolving global and regional dynamics.
During his visit, Rajnath Singh is also likely to engage in discussions on broader strategic and geopolitical matters, enhancing the framework for military-technical collaboration between India and Russia.
