PML(N)'s Shehbaz Sharif Becomes Pak's Prime Minister for the 2nd Time

With 201 votes in a 336-member house, Shehbaz Sharif secured victory. Subsequently, the coalition government of PML(N) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) will form the government at the central level in Pakistan.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, Pakistan Muslim League (N)'s candidate Shehbaz Sharif was declared the Prime Minister of Pakistan on 3rd March, Sunday.

With 201 votes in a 336-member house, Shehbaz Sharif secured victory. Subsequently, the coalition government of PML(N) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) will form the government at the central level in Pakistan. 

Moreover, Sharif's rival, Omar Ayub Khan, candidate of Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaaf Party, received 92 votes. 

Shehbaz Sharif served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from April 2022 to August 2023 until the government was dissolved to hold general elections. The general Polls for the 16th National Assembly were held on 8th February and faced large-scale criticism for alleged rigging. Moreover, PTI's Imran Khan, former Prime Minister of Pakistan is currently imprisoned in Cypher and Toshakhana case after being removed from his position through a no-confidence motion.
