PM Modi Meets Mauritius President to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met H.E. Mr. Dharambeer Gokhool, President of the Republic of Mauritius, at the State House, reinforcing the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. Their discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening the historical and cultural links shared by India and Mauritius.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi expressed his honor at attending Mauritius’ National Day celebrations as the Chief Guest for the second time. He underscored the strong people-to-people connections that have historically bound the two nations together. In a symbolic gesture, he handed over Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards to President Gokhool and First Lady Vrinda Gokhool, further cementing the cultural bridge between the countries.

Prime Minister Modi also visited the Ayurveda Garden at the State House, a project developed with India’s support. He emphasized Mauritius’ key role in promoting traditional medicine, particularly Ayurveda, and reiterated India’s commitment to sharing its expertise in this field.
