Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a special gesture of cultural diplomacy during his visit to Mauritius by gifting holy Sangam water from Mahakumbh in a traditional brass and copper pot, along with Makhana, a renowned superfood from Bihar, to President Dharam Gokhool.

The sacred water from the Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati—holds deep spiritual significance in Hindu tradition. Makhana, known for its nutritional benefits, is a treasured food item from Bihar, emphasizing India’s rich agricultural heritage.

As a token of appreciation for the First Lady, Vrinda Gokhool, PM Modi presented a Banarasi silk saree, elegantly packed in a handcrafted Sadeli box. The intricate silk craftsmanship of Banaras is globally celebrated, and the Sadeli box, known for its fine geometric inlay work, reflects India’s artistic excellence.

These gifts symbolize the shared cultural heritage and deep-rooted ties between India and Mauritius, reinforcing the historical and spiritual connections that bind the two nations together.
