BY A STAFF REPORTER: Flash floods near Lake Toba in Indonesia's North Sumatra province have killed one person and left 11 missing, the country's disaster agency BNPB said.
Flash floods following heavy rains on Friday evening damaged several houses, a church, a school and a hotel in the area located on the lake's banks, BNPB said in a statement. Lake Toba, the world's largest volcanic lake, is a popular tourist destination for Indonesian and international visitors.
About 350 people using heavy equipment were continuing search and rescue operations and about 200 people had been evacuated, the agency said.
