Delhi: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in the national capital to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and China. The meeting comes against the backdrop of ongoing efforts by both countries to stabilise relations while managing sensitive issues, including border security and economic ties.

Doval emphasised that the milestone year was an occasion to reflect on the progress made and the responsibilities ahead. He noted that sustained diplomatic engagement, supported by the efforts of missions, ambassadors, and defence establishments, had enabled the two sides to maintain dialogue despite challenges.

The discussions also underscored the importance of building momentum through political, diplomatic, and military channels. Both sides expressed the view that managing differences responsibly while expanding areas of cooperation was vital to the long-term stability of bilateral ties.

India and China established diplomatic relations in 1950, and over the decades, ties have spanned trade, cultural exchanges, and regional cooperation, though periodically strained by boundary disputes. The latest engagement is seen as part of a broader effort to restore normalcy in relations following recent tensions along the Line of Actual Control.
