The boat sank! Killed 100

BY A STAFF REPORTER: At least 100 people were killed when a boat carrying residents returning from a wedding sank in northern Nigeria, police and local residents said.

Police spokesman Okasanmi Ajayi said the boat capsized in the Niger River in nearby Kwara State in the early hours of Monday. And about 100 people have died. " 

Osman Ibrahim, a resident, said the victims, including women and children, were returning from a wedding ceremony overnight in Egboti village in Niger State. It was not immediately clear if anyone was alive.

"There were more than 100 passengers when the boat sank. The accident took place around 3 am and many drowned and many did not know about it even after a few hours. Some bodies are still being sought. '
