Washington, D.C.: President Joe Biden described the overnight attack in New Orleans as a “horrific incident” and confirmed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is leading the investigation, treating the event as an act of terrorism.

In a statement issued earlier today, the President commended the swift response of local law enforcement, which he credited for preventing further casualties. "I am grateful for the brave and swift response of local law enforcement in preventing even greater death and injury," Biden said.

He assured the public that federal, state, and local authorities are working collaboratively to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack. The President also emphasized that every resource will be made available to ensure the safety and security of the community and to address any potential remaining threats.

"My heart goes out to the victims and their families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday. There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation’s communities," Biden stated, extending his condolences to those affected.

The President affirmed his commitment to being continually briefed on the developments throughout the day. He promised to share further updates as more information becomes available.
