Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stark warning on December 10, 2024, stating that Israel would respond forcefully if Syria’s new regime permits Iran to re-establish its presence in the region or facilitates the transfer of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah.

Speaking on national security, Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s unwavering stance on safeguarding its interests in the Middle East. He warned that any action that could empower Iran or strengthen Hezbollah in Syria would be met with a severe response from Israel.

"If the new regime in Syria allows Iran to re-establish itself, or allows the transfer of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah, we will respond forcefully and we will exact a heavy price," Netanyahu declared, reinforcing Israel’s commitment to maintaining security in the region.
