New Delhi: Nepal's Foreign Minister, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, has praised the strong and multifaceted relationship between India and Nepal, describing India as Nepal’s most important partner. Speaking during her visit to Delhi, Dr. Deuba emphasized the depth and breadth of ties between the two nations, which span socio-cultural, trade, and connectivity dimensions.
“I think we have very good relations, and when India says ‘neighbourhood first,’ they put us first on the list,” she stated, referring to India’s diplomatic policy prioritizing its immediate neighbors. “Similarly, for Nepal, India is the most important country,” she added, underscoring Nepal’s reciprocal commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
Highlighting the longstanding socio-cultural bonds between the two countries, Dr. Deuba noted that their relationship is not confined to history but continues to thrive through robust trade and connectivity initiatives. “Our relations are not only deep in socio-cultural aspects but also extend to trade, commerce, and connectivity,” she remarked.
Dr. Deuba also acknowledged the importance Nepal attaches to its partnership with India, expressing optimism about the future of bilateral cooperation. “We attach great importance to our relations with India,” she concluded.
The remarks come as both nations continue to work on enhancing their partnership in areas such as infrastructure development, energy cooperation, and cross-border connectivity. Dr. Deuba’s visit is expected to further consolidate the historically close ties between India and Nepal.
