Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Friday convened a high-level interaction bringing together political party leaders, Election Commission officials, security chiefs and representatives from the Gen Z community to discuss preparations for Nepal’s upcoming general election. The House of Representatives (HoR) poll is scheduled to be held on March 5 next year, and the meeting was aimed at aligning key stakeholders on the roadmap ahead.
According to officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the discussions centred on election logistics, voter engagement, security arrangements and the role of youth participation in ensuring a free, fair and widely representative electoral process. With a significant share of first-time and young voters expected to shape the outcome, the inclusion of Gen Z voices was seen as a notable step toward broadening democratic dialogue.
Held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, the meeting saw participation from leaders of major political parties, including the Nepali Congress, the Communist Party of Nepal–Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), and the Nepali Communist Party. Senior officials from the Election Commission provided updates on voter registration progress, polling infrastructure, and operational challenges.
