New Delhi: Gen Yoshihide Yoshida, Chief of Staff of Japan's Self Defence Force, met with Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff of India, during his visit to India for Exercise Malabar 2024. The two leaders engaged in discussions focused on enhancing defence cooperation, technological collaboration, and exploring new opportunities to bolster bilateral relations.

The meeting emphasized the growing strategic partnership between India and Japan, particularly in ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific. Both sides reviewed ongoing defence cooperation initiatives and explored avenues for further collaboration to enhance maritime security and regional stability.

The discussions align with the broader goals of Exercise Malabar, a significant multinational naval exercise aimed at strengthening military ties and cooperation among participating nations in the Indo-Pacific region.
