Francesco Talo’, Italy’s envoy for IMEC

New Delhi: Francesco Talo’, Italy’s envoy for the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC), has described the evolving India-Italy relationship as a strategic partnership built on personal connections and mutual potential. Speaking on the sidelines of a diplomatic engagement, Talo’ expressed satisfaction with the trajectory of bilateral ties, saying it was both surprising and welcome that the two countries are now forging a stronger bond.
“Personal relationships are very important,” Talo’ remarked, emphasising the human and diplomatic bridges that have enhanced cooperation. Reflecting on his experience, he said he was “very happy and proud” to have witnessed the shift from a relatively underdeveloped diplomatic engagement to a promising strategic alliance.
He noted that it was once “strange” how limited the India-Italy partnership had been, given the scope for collaboration. But that, he said, has now changed. “We are building a very strong one. It's really a strategic partnership,” he affirmed.
Looking ahead, Talo’ identified immense untapped potential, referring to it as an “ocean of opportunities.” He called for continued collaboration across sectors under the IMEC framework and beyond, reinforcing a shared vision of sustainable connectivity, trade, and technological exchange between the two nations.
