Tel Aviv, June 24 — The Israeli government has issued a formal statement confirming the end of its latest military operation against Iran, citing the achievement of strategic objectives and the acceptance of a bilateral ceasefire proposal brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The statement reveals that in recent days, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck deep into the heart of Tehran, targeting and eliminating hundreds of militants affiliated with the Basij, a paramilitary force linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. In addition, the IDF claims to have eliminated a senior Iranian nuclear scientist, whose identity was not disclosed.
“These strikes were aimed at neutralising regime threats and degrading Iran’s nuclear capability,” the Israeli statement said. It further extended gratitude to President Trump and the United States for what it described as “defensive support” and joint efforts in removing the Iranian nuclear threat.
“In light of having achieved the objectives of the operation, and in full coordination with President Trump, Israel agrees to the President’s proposal for a bilateral ceasefire,” the government said. However, it warned that any violation of the ceasefire would be met with a forceful response.
