Raisi was accompanied by Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials during a helicopter ride which lost contact 30 minutes after takeoff. Moreover, the chopper lost contact in the mountainous region due to fog and bad weather.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a tragic incident, Iranian President Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian lost their lives in a helicopter crash near the Azerbaijan-Iran border on May 20, Monday.

Raisi was accompanied by Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials during a helicopter ride which lost contact 30 minutes after takeoff. Moreover, the chopper lost contact in the mountainous region due to fog and bad weather. 

Iran's Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will likely become Iran's interim President and hold presidential elections within 50 days from now.
