BY A STAFF REPORTER: Hours after Pakistan launched missile strikes on two bases of the Jaish al-Adl militant group, Pakistan said neighboring Iran had violated its airspace, killing two children.

In a statement issued by Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesperson early Wednesday, Islamabad warned that the incident could have "serious consequences" and was "completely unacceptable".

Iran's foreign ministry could not immediately comment. Jaish al-Adl has previously attacked Iranian security forces in the border area of Pakistan.

Pakistan's statement did not mention the location of the incident or the nature of the airspace violation, but said it had lodged a protest near Tehran and called the head of Iran's mission in Islamabad to the foreign ministry.
