Dublin, October 2 — The Indian Embassy in Dublin observed the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a special event that paid tribute to the Father of the Nation and reflected on the continuing relevance of his principles in today’s world.

On the first, Ambassador Mishra emphasized that Gandhi, despite having numerous critics and ideological opponents, always maintained civility and respect in debate. He noted that this spirit of dialogue offers an important lesson in an era marked by polarization and intolerance.
The second theme highlighted was Gandhi’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Ambassador Mishra recalled Gandhi’s belief that women possess greater moral strength than men, while also noting that the principle of gender equity must begin in every home.
Finally, the Ambassador stressed the importance of self-belief, drawing from Gandhi’s conviction in India’s cultural and civilizational strength. He reminded that pride and confidence are essential for India’s aspirations to become a developed nation by 2047.
The event concluded with tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, reaffirming his ideals as a guiding light for peace, inclusivity, and resilience in modern times.
