India has welcomed the upcoming meeting between the United States and the Russian Federation, scheduled to be held in Alaska on August 15, 2025, expressing optimism that it could pave the way for peace in Ukraine.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi described the planned dialogue as “holding the promise of bringing to an end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and opening up the prospects for peace.”

Reaffirming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oft-repeated position that “this is not an era of war,” the MEA said India fully endorses the proposed summit and stands ready to support initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis.
The Alaska meeting is expected to be a significant diplomatic engagement between Washington and Moscow, coming amid ongoing international efforts to broker a negotiated settlement to the conflict.
