New Delhi: The Government of India on Thursday welcomed the release of Indian national Anilkumar Raveendran, a crew member of the vessel MV Eternity C, who had been under detention in Yemen since July 7, 2025. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that Raveendran reached Muscat on Wednesday and is expected to return home shortly.
According to the MEA, the government had been actively coordinating with multiple stakeholders over the past several months to secure his safe release. Diplomatic channels, regional partners, and authorities involved in maritime security operations were engaged to ensure that Raveendran’s case received consistent attention.
“Government of India welcomes the release of Indian crew member Mr. Anilkumar Raveendran… Government of India had been coordinating efforts with various parties to ensure his safe release and return,” the MEA stated.
The ministry also expressed gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for its assistance in facilitating Raveendran’s transfer out of Yemen and ensuring his onward movement to safety. “Government of India would like to thank the Sultanate of Oman for facilitating the release,” the MEA noted, underscoring the importance of regional cooperation in maritime and humanitarian matters.
