India and the United States held wide-ranging discussions on trade, technology and economic cooperation as Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met U.S. Deputy Trade Representative Rick Switzer in New Delhi. The meeting, part of Switzer’s India visit, focused on expanding the scope of bilateral engagement and accelerating ongoing trade negotiations.
MEA official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the conversation reflected the growing depth of the India–U.S. strategic partnership. “Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met U.S. Deputy Trade Representative Rick Switzer. Discussions covered the strong India–U.S. economic and technology partnership, ongoing trade negotiations, and opportunities to boost two-way trade and resilient supply chains,” Jaiswal noted.
Officials familiar with the meeting said both sides reviewed progress under existing trade frameworks and explored new avenues to reduce barriers, harmonise standards and facilitate investment flows. Strengthening resilient and diversified supply chains—particularly in semiconductors, critical minerals and emerging technologies—was highlighted as a shared priority.
