By A Staff Reporter — Israel's Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, expressed appreciation for India's support of Israel’s right to self-defense amid the ongoing conflict, while cautioning against any moves to escalate tensions. Azar noted that Israel remains committed to managing the situation carefully, especially given the role of Iran in potentially amplifying conflict dynamics in the region.
“We are very encouraged by India's support for our right to self-defense,” said Azar. He emphasized that Israel is taking deliberate steps to avoid further escalation, countering regional pressures, which he attributed in part to Iran's involvement. "Israel is not trying to escalate the conflict at a time when Iran is pushing for it,” he added.
Highlighting the alignment of India and Israel’s interests, Azar remarked on the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations. India’s stance underscores its broader policy of non-intervention while recognizing a country's right to protect itself under pressing security threats. Azar concluded by affirming that Israel’s approach remains grounded in restraint, while ensuring necessary defensive actions to safeguard its people.
