India, South Africa Stand United Against Terrorism, Says Steenhuisen in Cape Town

Cape Town, South Africa: In a strong endorsement of India’s global counter-terrorism stance, South African political leader John Steenhuisen lauded India for delivering a “very important message” during an interaction in Cape Town, highlighting the shared commitment of democratic nations to combat terrorism in all its forms.

“India brought a very important message to South Africa today. We condemn the use of terror anywhere in the world, and it is important for democracies to stand together, united against terror,” he said, addressing a press briefing on Monday.

The remarks come at a time when global geopolitical tensions and security threats remain high, making international cooperation critical. Steenhuisen emphasized that all credible efforts to combat terrorism must be supported globally. “Any measures to counter terrorism need to be welcomed. As democracies, we need to find ways to combat terror globally,” he stated.

Reinforcing the broader diplomatic relationship, he noted that India remains a key strategic partner for South Africa, particularly through the BRICS alliance—a bloc comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. “India is a very important strategic partner for South Africa as both are members of BRICS,” he added.
