New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly condemned the abduction and brutal killing of Bhabesh Chandra Roy, a prominent Hindu minority leader in Bangladesh, expressing deep concern over what it described as a “pattern of systematic persecution” of the Hindu community in the neighboring country.

In a sharply worded post on X (formerly Twitter), MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have noted with distress the abduction and brutal killing of Shri Bhabesh Chandra Roy, a Hindu minority leader in Bangladesh. This killing follows a pattern of systematic persecution of Hindu minorities under the interim government even as the perpetrators of previous such events roam with impunity.”

Jaiswal further urged the Bangladeshi interim government to act decisively: “We condemn this incident and once again remind the interim government to live up to its responsibility of protecting all minorities, including Hindus, without inventing excuses or making distinctions.”

The statement comes amid rising concerns in India and among global human rights observers over the safety and rights of minority communities in Bangladesh. The Indian government has repeatedly raised such issues through diplomatic channels, demanding justice and protection for vulnerable groups.
