By A Staff Reporter — Speaking in Pune, Maharashtra, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar emphasized that the recent progress on India-China border agreements is the result of a firm, resilient approach combining military readiness and enhanced national infrastructure. The agreement pertains to coordinated patrolling efforts along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and reflects India’s sustained commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity, he said.

“Today, we are at this stage because of two main reasons,” Jaishankar stated, outlining that India’s military forces have been resilient in defending the border under extremely challenging conditions. "It was our military’s unyielding resolve in unimaginable circumstances that allowed us to stand our ground," he remarked, appreciating the Indian military’s role in upholding security at the border.

Additionally, Jaishankar underscored that investments in infrastructure over the last decade have significantly bolstered India’s ability to respond effectively to such cross-border issues. “Our infrastructure improvements are not only a testament to our commitment but have strengthened our position in engaging diplomatically,” he added.

Jaishankar also noted the importance of recent dialogues at the highest levels. He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with President Xi Jinping laid the groundwork for ongoing discussions among foreign ministers and national security advisors, aimed at finding collaborative ways forward on border issues.

“This alignment of military strength and diplomatic strategy has been pivotal,” Jaishankar affirmed, noting that the coordinated approach serves India’s broader interests of peace and stability at the LAC while safeguarding sovereignty
