Washington DC, July 1 — The United States has accused Hamas of violating a ceasefire agreement and refusing to participate in new negotiations, according to State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, who addressed the matter during a press briefing in the U.S. capital on Monday.

“Hamas violated a ceasefire and refused to engage in another one,” Bruce said in response to a journalist’s question. She emphasized that while direct diplomacy remains stalled, the U.S. is committed to doing all it can to ease the suffering of civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.

Bruce reaffirmed the Biden administration’s position that de-escalation and humanitarian relief remain top priorities, even as efforts to revive formal ceasefire negotiations face persistent roadblocks.
