BY A STAFF REPORTER: Israel on Tuesday released 12 more hostages, including two foreign nationals, on the fifth day of an extended ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The hostages are mainly elderly and some family members. On Tuesday, Hamas released two more Thai nationals.

Twelve hostages — 10 Israelis and two foreigners — who were released from captivity in the Gaza Strip — arrived in Israel on Tuesday, the military said. Israel has confirmed the identity of the 10 hostages. Among the hostages was 81-year-old Ditza Heiman, who locked himself in a safe room during the October 7 Hamas attack.

On the fifth day of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the army said in a statement that "the hostages released are ... inside Israeli territory. They greet and hug the released hostages back home. "
