Berlin, Germany, June 4, 2025 — In a strong expression of solidarity with India, Jurgen Hardt, Member of the German Parliament and foreign policy spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack and called for diplomatic engagement to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan.

Hardt made the remarks during a meeting with an Indian all-party parliamentary delegation visiting Germany. “We see the terror threat coming from Pakistan and we have asked the Pakistan government to eliminate terror groups in their country,” he stated, referring to long-standing concerns over cross-border militancy in South Asia.

Describing the Pahalgam terror attack as “a terrible attack on several people,” Hardt extended his sympathies to the victims and voiced Germany’s understanding of India's security measures. “We hope for a peaceful solution. We encourage the Indian government to do it diplomatically. Hopefully, the conflict between India and Pakistan can be calmed,” he said.

While expressing hope for dialogue, Hardt acknowledged the complexities of the situation: “We understand the necessity of why India took action.”
