New Delhi: In a strong show of support, German Ambassador to India Dr. Philipp Ackermann has expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with India in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which left multiple security personnel and civilians injured. He called the attack "undeniably an act of terror" and praised External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar for effectively communicating India’s position to the international community.
Speaking in Delhi, Ambassador Ackermann said, “Dr. Jaishankar is extremely eloquent and a very intelligent Foreign Minister. He can explain things in a wonderful way. So I think the Indian point of view was heard and seen.” His remarks followed extensive diplomatic outreach by India to convey the gravity of the incident and build international consensus on counterterrorism.
Referring to the attack, which occurred near a key pilgrimage route in south Kashmir, Ackermann remarked, “Wherever he [Jaishankar] went, it was made very clear how terrible the terrorist attack in Pahalgam was... If that is not an act of terror, what is an act of terror?”
Germany, a key partner of India in both bilateral and multilateral forums such as the G20 and United Nations, conveyed its condolences. “Our sympathies and feelings were shared with Dr. Jaishankar because even Germany was shocked by this,” he added.
