New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Friday said that the outcomes of intensive business and sectoral discussions held over the past two days were formally presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin during their bilateral engagements earlier in the afternoon. Misri was addressing a special media briefing on President Putin’s ongoing state visit to India.

He noted that various working groups and inter-governmental teams had been holding parallel rounds of talks in New Delhi, covering areas such as defence cooperation, energy partnerships, trade expansion, connectivity projects and technology collaboration. “The outcomes of discussions during the business and sectoral discussions that have been ongoing over the last two days were presented to the two leaders this afternoon,” he said.

The Foreign Secretary added that the day’s diplomatic schedule would conclude with a ceremonial engagement at the highest level. “Later on in the evening today, Honourable Rashtrapati Ji will receive President Putin at Rashtrapati Bhavan and will be hosting a state banquet in his honour,” Misri informed.

President Droupadi Murmu’s ceremonial reception and state banquet are expected to underscore the importance India places on its long-standing strategic partnership with Russia, even as the geopolitical landscape continues to evolve rapidly.
