Doha: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar kicked off 2025 with a significant diplomatic engagement, meeting Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, in Doha.
Taking to Twitter, Dr. Jaishankar expressed his satisfaction with the meeting. "Delighted to meet the PM and FM of Qatar in Doha today. My first diplomatic engagement in 2025. A productive review of our bilateral cooperation. Also, a wide-ranging discussion on recent regional and global developments," he wrote.
The meeting underscored the strengthening of ties between India and Qatar, focusing on various aspects of their bilateral cooperation, including trade, energy, and investment partnerships. The leaders also exchanged views on recent developments in the region and globally, highlighting the shared commitment to addressing pressing international issues.
India and Qatar share a robust economic relationship, with Qatar being a key supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India and a significant destination for Indian expatriates. Discussions like these further cement the foundation for mutual growth and collaboration.
